The Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Liquid reported the hacking of hot wallets. The hacker withdrew digital assets worth more than $80 million.
The platform transfers cryptocurrencies to cold storage.
“We are currently studying the situation and will provide regular updates. In the meantime, deposits and withdrawals will be suspended,” the Liquid team wrote.
The exchange did not name the volume of assets withdrawn by the attacker, but published the addresses associated with him. According to on-chain data, they received 107.3 BTC, almost 11 million XRP, about 9 million TRX. The Ethereum wallet received 14,957 ETH and ERC-20 tokens totaling $24.8 million.
The total value of the funds transferred to the addresses exceeded $80 million.
“We are currently monitoring the movement of assets and are working with other exchanges to freeze and recover funds,” the Liquid team added.
Recall that in 2020, the exchange leaked user data.
